“Reading” begins before opening a book
and continues after the book is closed!

 

Reading consists of three phases, not just one:  pre-reading, reading, and post-reading!

 

Each individual book in the Embracing Early Reading Support System has a unique and specific correlating Text Support Card that provides 

· the specific language (color coded), including “teacher” language, prompts and questions to use during each of the 3 phases of reading the book

· direct instruction of appropriate developmental strategies for figuring out “tricky words”

· two suggested word work and/or writing activities to extend your child’s independent understanding and application

 

designed to teach your child as a “reader” (to read ANY text) and not just teach your child to read “the book”!
